Srinagar, Apr 03 (KNO): The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has stated that the information regarding the Kela Tunnel in Ladakh is being collected.
Member of Parliament Raja Ram Singh raised the question about the tunnel’s approval, funding, estimated cost, timeline, and its impact on connectivity and strategic mobility in Ladakh.
He also inquired about environmental assessments conducted for the project and consultations held with key stakeholders before its approval.
In response, Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Jairam Gadkari, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), stated that the ministry is responsible for the development and maintenance of national highways across the country.
He added that details about the Kela Tunnel are being gathered and will be presented in the House.
The Kela Tunnel is expected to improve connectivity in Ladakh, benefiting both civilian and defense movement.
However, specifics about funding, environmental impact, and stakeholder discussions remain unavailable for now. The government has not provided a timeline for when the details will be shared—(KNO)
